Officers’ quick response scares off perpetrator

The woman believes the perpetrator was scared off by the quick response of the CCPO and Blue Security.

The Community Crime Prevention Organisation (CCPO) came to the rescue of a frantic woman who called to say she suspected someone was in her yard in the early hours of Thursday morning, 26 April.

“She called between 1am and 2am from a premises in Arnold Hunt Road in St Winifreds to say her dogs were going berserk,” said Snodey. “Two CCPO and Blue Security vehicles responded to her premises in under five minutes. At that time of the morning, she was very impressed and couldn’t believe the quick response.”

After checking the yard and finding nothing, the officers left but hung around the area for a while. The woman believes the perpetrator was scared off by the quick response of the CCPO and Blue Security.

“The CCPO is unlike any other security company in our area. We do not do alarms, we do what you can call a neighbourhood watch patrol.

“We do not make money out of it – the money members pay monthly pays the wages of our staff, with no committee members getting a salary. Our services are offered free and as a service to the community. All we ask is that if you not a member, it’s time to join.

“We want to make the CCPO a massive unit and put more cars and foot patrollers on the streets. Don’t wait until you or a family member becomes a statistic, do the right thing and join the fight against crime,” said Snodey. To join, call the CCPO office on 031-903-7037 or George Snodey on 083-655-4302.
