Cape Eagle Owl rescued in Doonside
The baby Cape Eagle Owl is now safe at the Rapture Sanctuary in Pietermaritzburg.
AFTER receiving a tip off of a rare owl for sale in Doonside, the Amanzimtoti SPCA together with the Toti SAPS reacted in time to see the animal safely removed from the seller.

“We got a call that there were some young boys selling an owl on the side of the road in Doonside,” said Amanzimtoti SPCA volunteer, Stacey Wall. “Amanzimtoti SAPS said that they would collect it and thereafter brought it to the SPCA.”
It was then discovered that this rare baby owl was infact a Cape Eagle Owl. It still worries the local SPCA along with other animal lovers, as to how the boys got their hands on this animal.
Contact the Amanzimtoti SPCA on 031-902-2424/5 or the Amanzimtoti SAPS to report wildlife being sold on the side on the road, or in any other suspicious way.
Stacey clarified that unfortunately there is no law against selling domestic pets, however if they are in bad condition or without food, water or shelter, the Toti SPCA can intervene.
