Repairs underway after Prospecton’s main sewer line collapses

The elevated rising main from the Avenue East pumpstation collapsed.

eThekweni Municipality has vowed to sort out an ongoing sewage problem in Prospecton this week. Local businesses have sewage seeping into their premises after the main sewer line collapsed.

eThekwini spokesman, Msawakhe Mayisela said the matter was reported to the city’s Water and Sanitation Unit on Wednesday and it has a team working on the matter. “The elevated rising main from the Avenue East pumpstation collapsed and an emergency project was implemented,” he said. “Tankers have been deployed to relieve the stress on the pumpstation and the repair should be completed this week. This will allow the pumps to be switched on at the Avenue East pumpstation.”
