A VIOLENT, serial-criminal gang’s reign of terror on the South Coast came to an end around 6pm on Monday evening, 15 April after a combination of excellent police work and team work in follow-up operations that saw the criminals being apprehended.

“Umkomaas SAPS Crime Prevention members noticed a suspicious vehicle on the N2 northbound, just past the Umgababa Shell Ultra City on Monday evening around 6pm,” shared ET Rapid Response.

“After a stop and search, they found an unlicensed 9mm firearm, along with several other items used while they committed the crimes. Back-up was immediately called and ET Tactical Response Team responded within minutes.”

It was soon established that other suspects were involved and that high caliber rifles were used in the crimes committed by the thugs. A team was quickly mobilised to intercept the remaining suspects.

“A hunt that led into the early hours of the next morning took the team north of Durban, where two more suspects, as well as the second vehicle that was used, were apprehended,” said ET Rapid Response.

ET TRT congratulated Umkomaas SAPS Crime Prevention and said it was a pleasure and honor to work with them. Follow-up investigations are currently underway.
