Warner Beach pupils join fight against plastic pollution

The negative impact of plastic on marine and human life were discussed during the presentation.

Clean Surf Project (CSP) highlighted the negative impact of plastic on marine and human life to young learners during a presentation at Warner Beach Preparatory School junior campus on Thursday, 23 May.

“Learners, aged six to nine-years-old, were presented with a ‘plastic island getaway’ complete with polluted rivers and beaches, little to no ‘pesky’ wildlife left around to bother them and searing heat from Candice Harding, who is passionate about educating everyone about our future with the severe, sad and shocking impact plastic pollution has on marine life,” said CSP’s Romy Wenzel.

“The grade 2 learners then applied the three Rs – reduce, reuse and recycle – to make lovely displays using recycled plastic products and drawing creative ‘no plastic’ pictures. Thank you to Warner Beach Prep School for having us, you guys are awesome.”

CSP’s educational programme continues as the team heads to Eston this week for another school presentation. Call CSP on 082-802-3353, email cleansurfproject@gmail.com or visit the CSP Facebook page to get more information on the amazing work they are doing.
