Three Toti bowlers in Port Natal qualifying masters

Markers are needed for the first round of men’s open singles on Sunday, 2 June, volunteer if you can help.

Congratulations to Toti Bowling Club’s Lynn Joubert who has been selected to play in Port Natal’s women’s qualifying open masters, as well as to Doreen Salmond and Jane Coetzee who will play in PN’s qualifying senior singles masters.

In the inter-club league, the women’s A side won 5-0 against Parkhill A at Umhlali; the B side won 3-2 against Hillary A at Collegians; the C side won 5-0 against Mount Edgecombe A at Winklespruit; and the D side lost 2-3 against Umhlali C at Umhlali.

The men’s A side won 6-1 against Westville Bowling Club A away; the B side won 7-0 at home against Westville BC B; the C side lost 0-7 against Durban Wanderers B at home; the D side lost 0-5 against Northlands C at home and the E side had a bye.

In the first round of women’s open singles, Doreen Salmond beat Marion Crouch and in the novice singles Dani Cardoso defeated Carole Glaves in 11 ends. In the men’s novice singles, Keith West beat Ronnie Wobben, so Keith is through to the last three players.

Winners of the Bob Southey women’s mutton competition were Michelle Pitchers, Noreen Butler, Gladys Hughes and Lynn Joubert.

Runners-up were Marion Crouch, Doreen Salmond, Leigh Callaghan and Hilary Lindsay. Getting second session prize were Jeanne Alexander, Heather Cooper, Talla Stephens-Viviers and Jane Coetzee.

In the men’s Bob Southey mutton competition Glen Scorgie, Mark Brodie, Dave McMillan and Shane Wilkinson came first; Peter Callaghan, Clive Frank, Ian Mills and Dallas Davis were second and Martiens Botha, Ian Shearer, Coy Schrauwen and William Sithole won second session.

Vince Marriott won the 100 board. At TGIF Gladys Hughes won the 100 board. Guelfo Cobianchi was at the club on Friday night, so he picked up the attendance draw prize; next week’s draw will revert back to R100.

Crecia Allers had no luck in choosing the correct key; next week’s key will be worth R3 490. Markers are needed for the first round of men’s open singles on Sunday, 2 June, volunteer if you can help.
