N2 section claims two more lives
Two motorists have been killed in separate incidents on the Twini Hill section of the N2 in the past week.
In the first incident a Kingsway High School an old pupil was killed on Thursday morning, 26 May. Bradley Steyn, 23, was travelling on the N2 southbound when the accident happened at about 12.15am.
In the other incident, another Toti man was killed in a collision early on Saturday morning. Andries Snyman, 22, was travelling on the southbound lane of the N2 when the accident, involving a heavy goods truck, happened at about 5.15am on 28 May.
Bathers will swim at own risk
Bathers can swim at their own risk if shark nets are removed during the impending sardine run.
So says Graeme Charter, director of the Natal Sharks Board. He said all local authorities along the coast have been informed that nets will be lifted as soon as there is evidence of sardines in the area. However, several local authorities have not responded to the notification sent out by the Sharks Board.
Youth (19) faces murder charges
Nineteen year-old Tembiso Sipho Ngcongo appeared in Scottburgh magistrate’s court on Monday, facing charges in connection with the murder, in March, of Rev Canon Bill Hardwick of Windenham. The first time Mr Ngcongo appeared he said he had committed the crime under duress from another man. Only Mr Ngcongo has so far been arrested in connection with the incident, although police know that two men were involved in the attack.
Toti man pays huge bail
Toti man, Franklin Kreuger, last week paid R750 000 bail granted in April by a Durban magistrate.
Managing Director of Dymarco Holdings, Mr Kreuger is facing allegations of fraud involving some R750 000. Mr Kreuger handed his SA and Netherlands passports to the investigating officer. He has to report to Toti police station three times a day. The hearing has been postponed to 30 June.
