Port Natal Pro 10 at Toti Bowling Club

Good bowling to the 14 ABC teams playing in the Port Natal Pro 10 on Sunday, 7 July

In the men’s senior singles at Toti Bowling Club, Greg McLeod defeated Terry Morgan; Ray Robinson beat Wessie van der Westhuizen; Ian Crouch got the better of Lofty van Tonder; Barry Bush beat Fred Rautenbach and Alec Stirzaker defeated Steve Evenwell.

In the men’s open singles Doug Joubert overcame Carl van Heerden and Alec Stirzaker beat Greg McLeod. Heather Brown and Dawn Schauer took the victory in the nominated pairs against Julie Sutherland and Amanda Ninow. In the women’s open singles, Jane Coetzee defeated Talla Stephens-Viviers; Heather Cooper beat Nicky Stirzaker and Doreen Salmond overcame Jacqui Fouché. In the women’s novice singles, Dawn Schauer beat Cathy Badenhorst and Jaylene Fagan defeated Jenny Rautenbach. Well done to Lynn Joubert, Michelle Pitchers and Leonie Mills as well as Jeanne Alexander, Heather Cooper and Jane Coetzee who got through to the quarter finals of the Port Natal women’s trips.

In the women’s mutton, Pam Chalder-Royle, Jenny Delport, Jackie Holdrick and Dot Liebetrau were the winners; runners-up were Marion Crouch, Doreen Salmond, Leigh Callaghan and Hilary Lindsey and the second session was won by Talla Stephens-Viviers, Noreen Butler, Gladys Hughes and Elmarie Young.

Winners of the men’s mutton were Alec Stirzaker, Mike Groom, Keith West and Mike Pitchers; in second place were Vince Marriott, Dennis Hughes, Mike Roberts and Ben Venter and winning the second session were Vince Phaal, Paul Davies, Trevor Osborne and Steve Liebetrau. The damagers won the 100 board.

Good bowling to the 14 ABC teams playing in the Port Natal Pro 10 on Sunday, 7 July. There are three Toti teams at home, so go and support them. At TGIF, Gladys Hughes won the 100 board. Trevor Zulch was at the club, so took home R250 in the attendance draw; next week’s draw will be R100. George Taylor had no luck in the key draw; next week’s lucky key will be worth R1 340. Members were saddened at the sudden passing of Miles Cartwright, a long time social member and a stalwart of their shows. Deepest condolences are sent to Barbara and his family and friends. His memorial service will take place on Friday, 5 July at 2pm at St Winifred’s Methodist Church. Many happy returns are sent this week to Brian Crause, Hannes Danielz, Trevor Zulch, Monica Visser, Toni Roberts and Linden Cooper.
