Warner Beach’s Lepront siblings stoked with top placings at iconic Ballito Pro

LEPRONT siblings Louise (11) and Luc (13), who are both Ugu Surfriders, surfed their hearts out at the iconic O’Neill Ballito Pro over the weekend and took home first and fifth placings respectively in their u12 girls and u14 boys age groups.
While the Warner Beach Preparatory learners surprised themselves with their astonishing achievements, their placings are no doubt a telltale of the amount of hours spent in the water and their efforts invested.

“Luc had a seriously awesome semi-final,” began proud mother, Catherine Lepront. “The conditions were terrible. He was up against three great surfers, he put up such a good fight. He ended up just missing the second place, getting a third place and therefore a fifth place overall. Luc showed a great improvement from last year’s seventh placing. He surfed like a champ, we are so stoked with his performance.”

Little Louise took surfed her heart out and wowed the crowds when she was crowned winner of the u12 event.
“Louise surfed on Saturday and the conditions were stunning, glassy seas. She went out, took the first wave, got a good score, waited patiently and after a few mix-up waves took a solid second wave to her count. It was very nail biting as she was up against an Australian and SA’s number one. It’s her maiden win and we are so very proud of her.”
Catherine explained that Louise was very nervous going into the water.

“We sat watching the waves and working out a game plan which she stuck to. After catching her first wave, she seemed to relax into it, had no pressure as all she was looking for was a fourth place, so some extreme excitement on this win, but well deserved. Both her and Luc have worked very hard the last few weeks, spending so much time in the water. They got some great guidance from Shane Thorne when they attended his surf camp the weekend before,” she said.
