Partnership blooms despite challenges

The organisation now provides online counselling for the community making it more accessible and safer in times of restricted movement due to the pandemic.

The fruitful partnership between Choices for Life (CFL) and Seed of Hope (SoH) has positively impacted the community.  There has been undeniable evidence that both organisations are able to serve their respective communities despite the Covid -19 challenges. CFL’s main focus is to reduce the number of unplanned pregnancies especially among the youth, intervene by providing counselling to families that are faced with unplanned pregnancies and sustain the organisation through its thrift shop and other fundraising activities.

“Through our prevention approach, we aim to provide learners in high school with the right information regarding sex through our undiluted programme by discussing the truth about love, sex and relationships. These talks have been held at SoH with volunteers and interns. These conversations will now continue in schools and also on our social media platforms,” CFL centre manager, Sindy Khanyile.

The organisation now provides online counselling for the community making it more accessible and safer in times of restricted movement due to the pandemic. Community members can access these services by sending a WhatsApp message to 031-903-7359.

“We have two qualified counsellors that are available online. The counselling services are also still provided at SoH and CFL. These services are free and not limited to pregnancy matters. We have also extended our service hours and are now available on the first and last Saturday of each month.”

The thrift shop also offers clothes for adults and babies at affordable prices.

“Through the Choices Thrift Shop, we encourage community members to donate pre-loved items and we sell them at very low prices for everyone to afford. In this way, we can sustain our organisation through the sales that are made at our shop.”

The shop is now available online on Choices Thrift Shop’s Instagram page and this allows for online orders as well.
