New home for Ons Winkel

Ons Winkel takes these goods and converts them into money used for Helping Hand’s Study Fund, among other things.

The community’s favourite charity moved into a new premises on Monday, August 23. Ons Winkel first opened its door last year and hopes to make a real difference in the community.

“We have a bigger place, so we will have more place to stock bigger items such as furniture,” said Karen Duyvestyn, who is the owner of Ons Winkel, Amanzimtoti, one of almost 60 such charity shops nationwide, which is situated on 27 Main Road, Doonside shop 2A.

Anything can be donated to Ons Winkel from clothing, furniture, antiques, kitchenware, bedding, curtains, toys, shoes, sports and technological equipment to anything else cluttering your home. Ons Winkel takes these goods and converts them into money used for Helping Hand’s Study Fund, among other things.

There were big specials available at the store as well.

Helping Hand’s Study Fund provides interest-free study loans to needy students who qualify to study further, but do not have the financial means to do so. The proceeds are also used for several other projects aimed at alleviating, ending and preventing poverty.
