Following the civil unrest, the Amanzimtoti Community Police Forum (ACPF) remains dedicated to addressing issues that underlie conflict in the area.

Together with the South African Police Service and Department of Community Safety and Liaison, they seek to invest in healing the collective trauma experienced in many of the suburbs falling within the Amanzimtoti policing precinct.

“To this end, the Minister of Police directed for the establishment of peace committees. As a response to the call by the minister, the Department of Community Safety and Liaison and in collaboration with Peace Oasis, the event was based at the Durban University of Technology,” said PRO of the organisation, Estelle van Eeden.
