Community urged to register to vote
"Complaining is easy, now is the time to make the decisions by exercising your democratic right to decide who is best positioned to represent your bread and butter issues at local government level."

The Constitutional Court (Concourt) dismissed an application by the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) to postpone Local Government Elections (LGE) to a date in 2022. The Concourt further gave the IEC three calendar days to decide on a registration weekend to afford those who are not registered or incorrectly registered, an opportunity to do so in the the better interest of inclusive participation in the LGE process.
“As such, the IEC proclaimed the weekend of 18 and 19 September as the last and final opportunity for registration, following which the voters roll will be closed and the Minister of COGTA will announce the date of the election, which by the same ruling has to be on a day between 27 October and 1 November 2021,” ward 97 councillor, André Beetge
Residents who will turn 18 before or on the date of the election and those already over the age of 18 who are either not registered or who are incorrectly registered or who have moved since the last LGE in 2016, can also change their details online by following the link from www.registertovote.co.za
