Zian Vorster from Amanzimtoti is doing his first year after registering for the Bachelor of Science in Agriculture.

The former head boy matriculated with the Class of 2023 after winning many awards in his final school year.

“I’m excited to be part of the UMP family. The institution is very advanced in agriculture, technology, farms, laboratories and other facilities,” said Zian.

The UMP was launched in 2014 and absorbed the Lowveld College of Agriculture at which Zian is based – in Mbombela (Nelspruit).

Zian is no newcomer to farming as his family has a livestock farm. He said he hopes to complete his studies in record time and continue up to a PhD level.

“I want to practise farming in America and then come back with the information to uplift communities with the gained knowledge,” he said.
