KZN issued with severe thunderstorm warning
Following the heavy rainfall and storms of the weekend, the South African Weather Services have advised residents to be alert.
THE South African Weather Service (Saws) has issued a Level 4 warning for KwaZulu-Natal as widespread showers and thundershowers are forecast over the greater part of the province today (November 4).

The warning includes the possibility of severe thunderstorms and in the south of KZN, damaging winds, excessive lightning, large hail or copious amounts of small hail and torrential downpours.
Possible impacts
Saws has identified possible impacts for this warning and have advised residents to take caution against:
- Falling trees: Strong winds may further lead to the falling of trees that can block main roads and cause traffic.
- Power outages: Electric structures might be affected and cause power outages.
- Danger to life: Heavy lightning can be a danger to both humans and wildlife.
- Structural damage: There is expected damage to buildings and other structures, with large hail and high winds.

- Avoid travelling on roads and bridges in low-lying areas.
- Stay indoors and away from windows during storms.
- Shelter pets and cover vehicles to prevent hail damage.
- Move livestock and vehicles to safe, sheltered locations.
- Refrain from outdoor activities.
- Unplug electrical devices to avoid damage from power surges.
- Keep emergency numbers on hand for immediate assistance.
