Nowbuth explained that there are eight grass-cutting cycles in the 2024/2025 financial year and the current cycle, which is the fourth one, started on January 6. The grass-cutting cycle generally begins in September and ends in June the following year. He said grass-cutting will be undertaken in the ward by contractors assigned by the municipality.
“According to the management of the Parks and Gardens Department, various factors such as changes in weather patterns and budgetary constraints can influence the start and end dates of grass cutting,” said Nowbuth.
The scope of work for the contractors requires grass to be cut and left without raking in accordance with municipal policy.
“The grass will be cut three metres from the road or to a point identified by a municipal representative,” he said.
Residents are asked to exercise caution on the roads while contractors are at work.
