[Video] Heavy rains continue to wreak havoc

South African Weather Services urged motorists to exercise caution as several roads have been flooded during today's heavy rainfall.

THE seemingly never-ending torrents of rain continually battering KZN have left several roads in Amanzimtoti and Isipingo among the areas hit with the worst of it.

The South African Weather Service has urged residents to exercise extreme caution and take necessary precautions to ensure their safety. It warns of intense rainfall, which will lead to flooding in several areas.

The following roads have been flooded:

  • Isipingo beach and the Dakota informal settlement.
  • Isipingo Rail, next to Checksave and Boxer.
  • The M4 towards the old airport leaving Durban, as well as the Prospecton Road off-ramp.
  • Riverside Road.
  • Just before the M4 bridge, the two leftmost lanes are flooded.
  • Just before Umbilo Rd offramp, all lanes flooded.
  • Tara Road.
  • Alpine Road.
  • Foreshore Drive, The Bluff, is closed due to the bank washing down onto the road.
  • Edwin Swales Road, leaving The Bluff.

People are advised to exercise caution when driving, and to stay safe and well-informed.
