Police spokesperson, Colonel Robert Netshiunda, said the arrest was carried out by members of the KZN Economic Infrastructure Task Team (EITT), working in collaboration with eThekwini Metro police investigators.

Police pounced on the suspect at his home, and he was found in possession of a pistol. A further search of his house led to the recovery of two AK-47 rifles and several rounds of ammunition of different calibre of firearms.

The firearms will undergo ballistic testing to determine whether they are linked to any crime scenes in KZN or elsewhere in the country.

The suspect is expected to appear in court soon on charges related to the illegal possession of firearms and ammunition.
