Shots fired in parking area outside Amanzimtoti gym

The victim was transported to a local hospital following the shooting. Police are currently investigating the incident.

A MAN has been injured in a shooting incident in the parking area outside a popular gym at a local shopping centre on Kingsway Road at around 10:30. Reports indicate that the victim was shot before being transported privately to a hospital for further care.

Amanzimtoti police, along with various security companies and the police K9 unit responded to the scene.

Update:

According to PT Alarms spokesperson, Dhevan Govindasamy, reports from the scene allege that a man had exited the gym, proceeding to the basement parking when shots were fired at him by gunmen from a vehicle.

Captain Charlene van der Spuy, communications officer of the Amanzimtoti police, confirmed the shooting. She said that the victim sustained gunshot wounds, but is currently in stable condition. The suspects and motive for the shooting are unknown at this stage and a case of attempted murder is being investigated by Amanzimtoti detectives.
