According to ALS Paramedics spokesperson Garrith Jamieson, the vehicle was washed off a low-level bridge at around midnight on December 20. Emergency services, including the SAPS Search and Rescue Unit and trained rescue dogs, are currently combing the river in a desperate bid to locate the missing men.
“They have searched from the point where the vehicle was recovered back to where it was swept off the bridge, but nothing has been found at this stage,” Jamieson said.
“Rescue teams are now making their way back through the water before continuing further downstream to search additional sections of the river.”

Jamieson confirmed that three men remain unaccounted for, adding that earlier reports were incorrect. Three occupants managed to escape from the vehicle, not two as previously reported.
Rescue operations remain ongoing under challenging conditions as concern grows for the fate of the missing men. Authorities are expected to provide further updates as the search continues.
