Multiple people rescued at Baggies Beach

Two people involved had already been safely removed from the water and were receiving medical attention on the beach from lifeguards.

AT about 14:55, a report was received of multiple persons in distress in the water at Baggies Beach, a designated non-bathing area.

Lifeguards stationed at Doonside Beach responded immediately, while additional lifeguards from Amanzimtoti Beach were dispatched to assist.

Rescue Operations

Upon arrival at the scene, two of the six individuals involved had already been safely removed from the water and were receiving medical attention on the beach from lifeguards.

The boat rescue team continued search and rescue operations and successfully retrieved the remaining four  individuals from the water.

Medical Response

A total of four patients required further medical assessment and treatment.
ALS Paramedics and ER24 arrived on scene, along with members of the media.

All patients were assessed, treated, and stabilised on scene before being handed over to paramedics in a stable condition.

Conclusion

The D5 Lifeguards displayed a high level of professionalism, skill, and coordinated teamwork throughout the operation. Their swift and decisive response resulted in the successful rescue and stabilisation of all six individuals.

No fatalities were reported.
