Second chance for matric learners still available

Matric learners who have fallen short of achieving their National Senior Certificate still have a second chance they can register for.

REGISTRATIONS for the Department of Basic Education’s Second Chance Matric Programme are still open until February 6 for those who fell short of the pass requirements for the 2025 National Senior Certificate examinations.

The KZN MEC for Education, Sipho Hlomuka, encouraged learners to register for the programme for another chance at success.

Eligible learners are able to meet the requirements of the NSC through the programme and obtain their matric certificate, thereby increasing learner retention, opening up opportunities for further studies and job opportunities.

Candidates to be supported:

  • Senior Certificate Examination Candidates: Learners registered to write the Senior Certificate examinations in June.
  • NSC Examinations Part-time candidates: Learners who attempted the NSC examinations post 2008 and will write the examinations in May/June and November.

Requirements for registration:

  • A completed registration form
  • A copy of your SA ID or passport if you are a foreign candidate
  • A copy of your previous highest qualification

Candidates can register online at www.eservices.gov.za or at any provincial education office.
