As part of their natural sciences practical, the learners observed the growth of lettuce to see which medium works, from beach sand, homemade compost and potting soil.

The school’s Chloe Gibb explained that the hands-on investigation encourages curiosity, critical thinking, all the while laying a firm foundation of real-world science as the learners track growth and compare results over time.

“Our learners enjoyed studying the biodiversity of our school, discovering plants, insects and the natural world around them. There is no need for YouTube or textbooks when we have such incredible practical examples all around us,” said Gibb.

The learners explored spore-producing plants and seed-producing plants to deepen their understanding of the plant kingdom through observation and discussion.
