Due to increased demand amid soaring temperatures, water curtailments will be carried out in the evening for the next week.

AS residents try to cope with the exceptionally high temperatures, the increased demand of water has strained the water supply, leading to water curtailments.

Ward 97 councillor André Beetge has notified the community that the South Coast Augmentation (SCA) pumps will be switched off from 19:00 until 22:00 for the next seven days from tonight (February 6), in an attempt to stabilise water supply.

“The water department will balance municipal reservoir levels by closing outlets in an attempt to reduce the risk of a total systems collapse,” said Beetge.

Consumers are requested to reduce demand.
