eThekwini’s electricity vending system back online
A break in the fibre network was identified as the root cause of the disruption.
THE third-party prepaid electricity vending system is back online after a technical glitch prevented eThekwini Municipality’s customers from purchasing electricity tokens on vending platforms since September 6.

City spokesperson, Senzelwe Mzila, said the system is fully operational and prepaid electricity tokens can once again be purchased through all authorised third-party vendors and digital banking channels.
He said a break in the fibre network was identified as the root cause of the disruption.
“The municipality thanks customers for their patience and co-operation while technical teams worked to restore service,” said Mzila.
