KwaMakhutha pot suspects remanded in custody
The suspects, who are foreign officials, were not able to confirm their immigration status when they were arrested.

The four men who were arrested in KwaMakhutha on Monday, August 22, for possession of stolen goods, and for tampering with essential infrastructure were remanded in custody after appearing at the Umbumbulu Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday.

Aged between 24 and 46, they were also charged with contravening the Immigration Act. Provincial SAPS spokesperson, Constable Thenjiswa Ngcobo, said the police acted on a tip-off about a warehouse in the eMbuthisweni area of KwaMakhutha that was manufacturing and storing aluminium pots.
“On arrival they found four men who were manufacturing pots and the police enquired about the melted metal that they were using to make them. They were unable to prove where they obtained the raw material and they were arrested,” said Ngcobo.
Police also seized copper and other tools that were used to manufacture the pots. They remain in custody pending more investigations.
