Deputy mayor visits Umbumbulu

Deputy Mayor Philani Mavundla said the city is aware of the challenges in the area, and it is doing all it can to address the problems.

eThekwini Municipality’s Deputy Mayor Philani Mavundla, together with members of the Human Settlement and Infrastructure Portfolio committee, visited Ward 105 in Umbumbulu to address service-delivery challenges on Friday, September 2.

Issues discussed included water, housing infrastructure, roads, sports and recreational facilities. The area has had continuous water challenges, while also facing a backlog in housing delivery. Mavundla said the city is aware of the challenges, and it is doing all it can to address the problems.

He also said eThekwini will host the Human Settlements Indaba and Exhibition at the Durban Exhibition Centre on Monday, September 5.

“The Indaba will come up with various strategies to address challenges facing the human settlements environment around the city,” he said.
