Hospice appeals for donations
Khanya Hospice appeals for financial donations or goods for their 3 charity shops that provide the bulk of their monthly income.
KHANYA Hospice CEO Neil McDonald said that while the hospice is always there for the patients, it has had to scale down because of the impact Covid-19 had on its operations.

Khanya Hospice looks after terminally ill patients free of charge. The hospice’s three charity shops, which generate most of its monthly income, were closed for some time during the lockdown.
“The shops sustain the free palliative nursing care that we offer. Our nursing staff have been working two full days a week, mostly seeing cancer patients and supporting their families. We have quite a few new patients put on our programme during this time. We cannot just leave our patients in the cold like that; we have to attend to them,” said Neil.
In preparation for October, which is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Neil said he is asking everyone for donations. “We are looking for people or businesses that are willing to donate to us on a monthly basis. People can sign a debit order at their bank or do an EFT transfer monthly.”
