Premier shuts down non-compliant shop in Magabheni
The business was run by a foreign national and wasn't following health and safety regulations amongst other things.
KWAZULU-NATAL Premier Nomusa Dube-Ncube and eThekwini Municipality mayor Mxolisi Kaunda were part of a multi-disciplinary law enforcement operation in Magabheni on Friday, December 9, which shut down a supermarket for non-compliance.

In a statement, Dube-Ncube’s office said the shop is owned by a foreign national, and it was found to have an illegal electricity connection, was selling expired and damaged goods, and failed to adhere to health and safety regulations.
“The business was also unlicensed. Another foreign national found at the shop was taken by police for verification in order to confirm his request to apply as an asylum seeker from the Department of Home Affairs,” the statement read.
The Premier was in the area for the official launch of the Magabheni Sizakala Customer Centre, as well as to lead an integrated service-delivery and social-cohesion programme in the area.
