She could not make it to school today, January 20, when the results were released, but the school’s principal, Hine Kapp, congratulated her and the rest of the Class of 2022 on their achievement. Katelyn came third in the Umlazi district and 10th overall in KwaZulu-Natal.

In second place was Zandri van den Bergh with a 92% aggregate pass and Michaela Kilmartin in third place with 91%.

The school achieved a 100% pass rate, with 86% being Bachelor Passes. A total of 10 learners received an A-aggregate pass.

Principal Kapp attributed the good results to the commitment of learners, the school’s staff, and parents. “Amidst challenges like Covid-19 and the floods, we have remained positive, and the determination of our learners to succeed has culminated in us being placed as the top school in our circuit. A huge thank you goes out to our parents and families for all your support. Our school’s governing body has been phenomenal in their ongoing support,” said Kapp.

He thanked the deputy principal Sandy Naidoo, as well as the school’s former principal, Louise Lemmer, who retired in 2022.
