Toti golfer gets a hole-in-one

Grant Milosevich has been playing golf for 23 years, both recreationally and at a provincial level, and has never scored a hole-in-one.

A BRIEF moment of searching for a golf ball ended in shock and excitement when Grant Milosevich realised he had just landed his first hole-in-one.

Milosevich used a nine iron golf club at a distance of 148m at Royal Durban Golf Club’s 14th hole. He said, “Once I hit the ball it disappeared due to the sun’s glare, and we couldn’t find it. My 4-ball teammate and I then took a look in the hole, and there it was. We knew it was close to the hole, but never thought it would go in.”

There were cheers and hugs on the green, with celebrations at the clubhouse afterwards.

Milosevich has been playing golf for 23 years, both recreationally and at a provincial level, and has never scored a hole-in-one. “It was so exciting, a day I’ll never forget. There’s a lot of luck involved, but it’s also about timing and how you execute the shot. The ball came off the club beautifully. Whether amateur or professional, it’s a milestone any would be lucky to achieve,” he said.

The avid golfer is part of Golf Junkies, a social club of about 20 men, who play monthly games at different golf clubs. The club started at the Amanzimtoti Golf Club in 2018. Milosevich is currently second in the club’s individual stableford points championship.

He said he appreciates the group, and how they act as a support system to push each other to achieve in their personal and golfing lives.

The men are currently planning a mid-year trip to Sun City’s Lost City Golf Course and Gary Player Country Club, designed by South African golfing legend, Gary Player.
