Help Wanderers Haven keep the community warm

Donate soup and blankets, or join the winter warmth drive on Saturday, May 27.

WITH the cooler weather starting to set-in during the night, Wanderers Haven is appealing to members of the community to donate blankets and soup for those in need.

Each year, the faith-based, non-profit organisation embarks on its winter warmth drive during the cooler months to assist destitute people and families who are homeless, as well as elderly who rely solely on Sassa grants.

The soup and blanket drive takes place on Saturday, May 27 from 14:00, in the Spur parking lot at Amanzimtoti Main Beach, and will head towards Winklespruit.

The organisation’s founders, Sharon and Johnny Swanepoel, said they have already handed out the last of their blankets.

“There are so many people in need of warmth, and we would appreciate the community’s support, whether it’s donations or joining us on the day. Our previous drives have seen many blessed and warm,” said Sharon.

The drop-off points are: The Thirsty Whale, Warner Beach Preparatory School, Cedar Hill Church and Wanderers Haven’s charity shop/office at 27 Commercial Road in the Amanzimtoti CBD.
