Santa Shoebox Project about to kick off in Amanzimtoti
From September 1, anyone can go online and choose a child for whom they can pack a personalised shoebox as a gift.
THE Santa Shoebox Project is back to bring smiles and Christmas cheer by collecting and giving gifts to the less fortunate.

From September 1, households, individuals, schools and businesses will be able to go online and choose a child for whom they can pack a personalised shoebox. One of the project’s co-ordinators for Amanzimtoti and the surrounding areas, Mandy Bowles, said the Santa Shoebox’s 20th anniversary marks two decades of giving, having reached over 1.5 million children since 2006.
“This project has grown from a simple gift-giving initiative 20 years ago to an organisation that creates lasting change in communities across South Africa. The annual campaign is done to bring joy to the faces of vulnerable and underprivileged children in the community,” said Bowles.
The Santa Shoeboxes can be dropped off on October 30 and 31, and for more information and assistance on where to drop off, Mandy can be contacted on 082 327 4273. The project’s website is www.santashoebox.org.za.
What to pack in each box?
All eight items should be brand new and age-appropriate
• A facecloth and soap
• Toothbrush and toothpaste
• Stationery
• Educational item, e.g. playdough, puzzle, book, etc
• A toy
• Sweets
• Clothing
