Chairperson of the ACC Barry Walker said it was with mixed emotions that the club gathered to say goodbye to Grix and his wife, Jenny, as they were true pillars of the Amanzimtoti community.

“It is a poignant moment as Gavin embarks on a new chapter in his life, moving to Cape Town to embrace retirement and to be closer to his beloved daughter, Caroline. Gavin’s journey with our club has been one of dedication, inspiration and shared accomplishments. From the very inception of our club, he stood among the founding members, lending his unwavering support and contributing to the vibrant spirit that defines us today,” said Walker.

With the ACC, Grix participated in countless road and mountain biking competitions where he provided unwavering support and warmth to other cyclists.

“As we bid farewell to Gavin, we do so with gratitude for the countless memories, shared stories and moments of triumph we’ve experienced together. Though he may be leaving our immediate community, his legacy will forever remain intertwined with the very fabric of our club. To Gavin and his devoted wife, Jenny, we extend our heartfelt wishes for a future filled with joy, new adventures and precious moments with Caroline,” said Walker.
