Amanzimtoti High School’s rugby coach, Gideon Cordier said the tournament started in 2019, with the school hosting it for the third time. “The aim of the tournament is to grow friendships, and build relationships going forward. The format is four pools of four teams, with trophies for shield, bowl and cup,” he said.

There will be a tournament each week for six weeks, with the grand finals taking place at Kuswag Skool on September 9, where the winners will be awarded the prestigious Mrs Lemmer Trophy. “This is the first time that there will be an overall winner. The idea came from the Blitboks Series which is played around the world. All the schools are looking forward to the finals,” said Cordier.

Cordier said it was a great day of rugby. “It was warm, and not as windy as last year. The turnout and support was great, with teams giving it their all,” he said.
