The centre welcomed the Amanzimtoti Police Station’s Social Crime Prevention team, the Amanzimtoti Youth Crime Prevention Desk, the Department of Community Safety and Liaison and Sparrow Trust.

Estelle van Eeden, founding director of Sparrow Trust, said 40 young boys participated in the days’ activities, which included an art competition exploring perceptions of being ‘brave and safe’, a dialogue on human trafficking, a talk on making the best choices and on social behavioural change and identity formation.
“Constable Nkululeko Gwala wrapped up the programme by encouraging the boys to be the support system they need, to reach out to each other and to practise compassion and kindness,” she said.
Van Eeden added that together they are able to create safe environments for young boys to speak, to be heard and to be supported in their journeys to manhood.
