House break-in crimes in Amanzimtoti in the last week – in brief

There have been a number of house burglaries or robberies in the area in the last week. Homeowners are urged to be vigilant.

A HOUSEBREAKING occurred during the day at a complex in Fynn Road, Amanzimtoti, on March 4. Laptops, speakers and other items were stolen. George Snodey of the Community Crime Prevention Organisation Amanzimtoti (CCPO) said the suspect broke in through the roof and left through a window.

On the morning of February 29, a man was caught attempting to steal copper pipes from a property in Dan Pienaar Drive, Amanzimtoti. CCPO, ET Rapid Response, Toti CPF Blue Security – Durban responded. The suspect was arrested and was charged by Amanzimtoti SAPS for damage to the property.

On February 28 at around 05:20, a house robbery occurred at a complex in Ellcock Road, Warner Beach. Snodey said the suspect gained entry through the main gate by waiting for a vehicle that was departing and then entered the complex.

“The suspect then entered one of the units through a window. He then attempted to stab the homeowner who managed to apprehend the suspect. CCPO and Blue Security – Durban and Amanzimtoti SAPS responded. The resident suffered minor injuries and did not require medical assistance, but the suspect was arrested and charged,” he said.
