Hosted by the Merewest Community Foundation, the special ceremony on March 16 sought to honour those who go above and beyond the call of duty in their endeavour to create better communities.

Govindasamy said it meant a lot that certain organisations and individuals took the time to appreciate and recognise the efforts of crimefighters.

“As security personnel, we risk our lives daily, often as first responders. For such sacrifices to be recognised, it means a lot. I am very passionate about fighting crime and keeping citizens safe, so this award is something that I treasure,” he said.
