Schools’ choir competition held in Amanzimtoti
The South African Schools Choral Eisteddfod held in Amanzimtoti features sweet voices of learners from local schools.
THE KZN Department of Education hosted the uMlazi district’s South African Schools Choral Eisteddfod (SASCE) at the Amanzimtoti Civic Centre recently.

Grade 5-7 learners from schools in Umgababa, Illovo township, Umlazi and Adams Mission gave breathtaking performances, bringing their unique blend of harmony, rhythm and cultural expression to the stage. The choirs competed in various categories, including Western, African, and their own choice pieces, each hoping to represent the district in the next stage of the competition.
Joshua Ndlovu, the district’s senior education specialist, said the competition was a celebration of youth, music, and excellence in education. He extended his appreciation to the adjudicators, teachers, learners, and school principals for ensuring the competition was a success.
“All schools that obtained first position will represent the uMlazi district at the provincial level,” said Ndlovu.

1st – Kingsburgh Primary School
2nd – Danganya Primary School
3rd – Isikhwelo Primary School
Western category:
1st – Danganya Primary School
2nd – Isikhwelo Primary School
3rd – Kingsburgh Primary School.
