Take a walk with the SUN: A glimpse into what Hearts of Toti does [Video]
Take a walk with the SUN as we catch a glimpse of what Hearts of Toti, a local non-profit organisation, does on a monthly basis.
IT IS often at a non-profit organisation that you are able to see true selflessness. For this week’s walk, I, Nikhil Gopichand, journalist for the South Coast Sun, visited Hearts of Toti, where on October 2, the NPO did its monthly food hamper handouts.

Every month, dozens of families are assisted with hampers filled with basic necessities, frozen foods, toiletries and non-perishable items. They are also free to peruse donated clothing and household items, and take whatever they need.
The NPO’s base of operations was a frenzy, with volunteers fishing out donated frozen foods and packing hampers of different sizes for different-sized families.
Hearts of Toti’s Alta Erasmus confirmed that a total of 43 families received aid during the handout.
Angela Schorm, of Hearts of Toti, said, “Hearts of Toti envisions a world in which the most vulnerable people will have the power to lift themselves out of poverty and to create healthier lives for their families and communities, teaching our future generation to be stronger in all the suffering and to empower others for the future. We can only but say thanks to all the big-hearted people in our community and including corporate and small businesses for being a part of this journey with us.”

Food is a constant need
For Hearts of Toti, above all else the NPO needs food, as there are countless families reliant on the lifeline they are given each month.
If you can donate the following items, it will make a world of difference to Hearts of Toti’s cause:
