Heatwave prompts medical warning in eThekwini

People are advised to seek urgent medical help should anyone experience adverse symptoms caused by heat.

WITH today’s (January 6) temperatures forecast to hover in the 30s, ALS Paramedics Medical Services has warned of extreme heat that is capable of causing medical emergencies.

Today, the mercury is expected to peak at 32˚C in eThekwini and in a statement, ALS Paramedics advised people to stay hydrated by drinking liquids.

Residents are advised to seek urgent medical help should anyone experience any of the following symptoms:

• Fainting
• High body temperatures
• Dehydration
• Confusion
• Seizures

The National Ambulance Service can be called on 10177.
