Jean Pierre van Niekerk, Banele Nsele, Lloyd Ramsbottom, and Brandon Dlamini, who were also admitted to TRC as patients and acted as monitors, face murder charges for the incident that happened on April 9, 2025. In their recent appearance, the court ruled that the case be transferred to the Chatsworth Regional Court for trial. During the four men’s December 2, 2025, appearance in Umlazi, the matter was postponed pending a decision by the director of public prosecutions to refer it to the High Court.

Brad Nathanson, a private investigator hired by Edwards’ family, said the matter will be heard at Chatsworth Regional Court 2 on March 5.
“The wheel is moving slowly, but it is moving forward,” said Nathanson.
The accused remain out on bail.
