Trolley dashing at Arbour Crossing for charity

It was fun, laughter and generosity at this year's edition of Arbour Crossing's exciting trolley dash charity initiative.

CHARITY took on a fun form on May 29 as trolleys zipped through Pick n Pay Hypermarket at the Arbour Crossing Retail Centre for its corporate social investment trolley dash.

Dashing through the aisles were three non-profit organisations, namely Cats of Durban, Kingsburgh Child and Family Welfare and the Chatsworth Cheshire Home, all in search of items from their respective needs lists.

Thanks to the special initiative, each NPO received R5 000 worth of products, from cat food to vegetables, meat and potatoes to non-perishable foods.

“A heartfelt thank you to all our shoppers and spectators who stopped by, cheered everyone on and shared in the joy of giving back. Community moments like these truly remind us what it’s all about,” said Arbour Crossing on a Facebook post.

Chairperson of Kingsburgh Child and Family Welfare, Jenny Smith, expressed sincere thanks for being chosen as a beneficiary.

Kingsburgh Child and Welfare social worker Sandra Govender was elated with the donation.

“We are deeply grateful for the much-needed food items and toiletries donated through the event. Beyond the practical support, it was so fun and interactive, and it genuinely felt like a joint effort in serving our community. These donations mean so much more than just food and toiletries. Too often, households have to choose between buying food or bread and purchasing a roll-on or deodorant. By providing these essentials, you’re helping our clients feel dignified and ready to face each day. We value this partnership and hope to continue working together to bring care and support to our community,” said Smith.

Kurt Hoggan, general manager at Arbour Crossing Retail Centre, expressed pride in supporting the incredible work local NPOs do within their respective communities.

“The trolley dash was a fun and meaningful way to give back and we are grateful to everyone who contributed to its success,” said Hoggan.
