Pet Rescue Isipingo tackles sterilisation drive
To take on the rampancy of unwanted animals roaming the streets helplessly, Pet Rescue Isipingo has embarked on a sterilisation drive.
PET Rescue Isipingo is hoping to tackle the heartbreaking cycle of unwanted cats and dogs that are forced to live on the streets by hosting a sterilisation campaign.

Pet Rescue Isipingo’s Nirvana Ramlall hopes that by pushing for sterilisation, it can make a difference and prevent countless unwanted animals from being born.
“There is a litter of puppies born tonight that may never find a home. There is a kitten somewhere on the streets who may become a mother before she is even old enough to understand what is happening and there are countless animals already waiting in shelters, foster homes and rescue centres because there simply aren’t enough homes for them,” said Ramlall.
As such, the non-profit organisation is launching an urgent fundraising campaign to help sterilise cats and dogs belonging to families who cannot afford the cost of veterinary care.
For Ramlall, sterilisation is not simply a veterinary procedure. It is prevention and is one of the most effective ways of breaking the cycle of unwanted animals.
“Every day, rescue organisations are confronted with the same heartbreaking reality of abandoned puppies and kittens. The problem is enormous, but the hope behind this campaign is that it can be the solution,” said Ramlall.
Every rand raised by the NPO will go toward sterilisation costs.
