Track and field frenzy for Amanzimtoti learners [Pics]
The atmosphere was electric as young primary school athletes displayed their field sport skills at an inter-school athletics meeting.
LANDING mats, sand pits and shot put balls were strewn across Kuswag Skool’s field as an exciting inter-school primary school athletics meeting, hosted by Umbogintwini Primary School, played out from September 18 to 19.

The much-anticipated event brought together young athletes from schools in Amanzimtoti for a spirited display of sporting excellence and camaraderie.
Umbogintwini Primary’s sports department head, Elzaan Kruger, said, “The event highlighted the remarkable depth of talent among our community’s youth, and the dedication of schools to nurturing it. Learners gave their all on the track and in the field, showcasing their athletic ability, determination and resilience.”

Kruger said what stood out most was that athletes cheered one another on, staff and coaches supported every effort, and the atmosphere reminded everyone involved that inter-school events are about more than just medals.
“It is about building relationships, encouraging teamwork, and celebrating the achievements of every participant. This year’s Inter-schools Athletics was a resounding success, and schools look forward to many more opportunities to celebrate sporting excellence and unity in the years to come,” said Kruger.
Zetwee Hattingh, of Kuswag Skool, added that the athletics made for an electric event with fierce competition, but also a spirit of togetherness as a community.
“Learners danced together, competed against each other and made friends along the way,” said Hattingh.
