AMANZIMTOTI Bowling Club congratulates Greg McLeod and Marion Crouch who won the final of the mixed pairs, and well done to runners-up Lofty van Tonder and Robyn Hutton.
The club is proud of Elsie Walker and Nicky Stirzaker who reached the final of the Port Natal women's pairs, where unfortunately they lost to tough opposition. To be runners-up in this competition of strong players is a wonderful achievement.
In the semi-finals of the men’s nominated trips, Rob McDuling, Guelfo Cobianchi and Mike Pitchers beat Jerry Gertzen, Neville Roscoe and Mike Dovale in a hard-fought game going to an extra end. Good bowling in the final.
In the women's trips the winners were Estelle van der Merwe, Elaine Critchlow and Norma Raath, and the runners-up were Robyn Hutton, Nicky Stirzaker and Jackie Holdrick. The first session was won by Pam Chalder-Royle, Noreen Butler and Jane Coetzee, and the second session went to Marina Clark, H Willis and Sandy Snyman.
At TGIF the meat was won by Doreen Salmond, and the wine by E Gardner and Val de Kok. E Ubleis, tab 142, was not present at the attendance draw, so next week’s draw is worth R150.
At the men’s mutton, the winners were Mervyn Conway, Andy McDonald, Alec and Ashley. The runners-up were Barry Simpson, Don Saunders, Peter Barnes and Neil Wiggil. The second session was won by Vince, Dennis, Colin and Mike, and most bowls went to Herbert Hofmann, Keith, Robbie and Jeffrey.
The women should note the list is on the board for the annual Cherry Bell bash, which is on Saturday, 26 October. Cost is R20 for bowls, champagne/orange juice and lunch, so put your names down soon.
A reminder to all members of the AGM at 8am this Sunday, 29 September followed by prize giving. Please take snacks for afterwards.
Many happy returns this week to Innocent Sithole, Adrian Smith, Tony van der Westhuizen, Mike Dovale, Neville Doman, Nicky Stirzaker and Phil Perkins. Get well soon to all our members who are ill.
