EDITOR – I would like to express to people the purpose of disabled and moms and tots parking.
I am sick and tired of being called names, sworn at and criticised when I bring it to people’s attention that they may not park in these parkings.
As a mother of two very young children – one and two-year-olds – I am outraged at people’s sense of entitlement and blatant disregard for rules and simple courtesy. I am not sure if people are aware but these parkings are wider to assist moms by making it easier to get their children in and out of the car. The normal parkings are far too narrow and it is virtually impossible for mothers like me to use these.
When I raise the issue with managers or speak to car guards, they simply tell me there is nothing they can do or they are ‘working’ on it. It has been two years now – how long are they going to continue ‘working’ on the problem?
Quite frankly I think the answer is quite simple – clamp their tyres and fine them.
I don’t even use these parking bays unless I have my children in the car with me, because I am so aware of how difficult it is for mothers out there, so who do these people think they are? Surely I am not the only mother that feels this way?
Oh and to the woman today who told me to F-off, mind my own business and that I could do with the exercise, I invite you to spend a day carting my 16kg son and 8kg daughter around. I would love to see how you cope.
