Fully behind lifesaving club

If this resident thinks the noise is bad now, just wait for a couple of weeks as the weather warms up and the car park parties start.

EDITOR – I must respond to the letter regarding the noise from Winklespruit Lifesaving Club.

I have lived across from the club for many years and have not heard any of the so-called noise and any of the other complaints this resident is writing about.

The club, when it has the occasional party, always seems to be mindful that it is in a residential area and adheres to its license regulations.

The loud music, fighting, shouting and screeching of tyres comes from the people who come to the car park and turn up the radios and then proceed to party as if they are in a nightclub and also consume alcohol in a public place, which I am sure is against the law.

If this resident thinks the noise is bad now, just wait for a couple of weeks as the weather warms up and the car park parties start. Off course, we will soon be enduring the December holidays and the escalating volume of music and mess that happens every year.

If the lifesaving club wasn’t able to generate funds from its functions, residents and holidaymakers would not be able to enjoy the beach in the knowledge that, should they get into difficulties, there is someone giving their time to come to their rescue.

I stand fully by the club.
