EDITOR – Did you know that when you turn inland into Isundu Drive, you can observe at least 20 kinds of trees species, at least five colourful wild flowers and listen at any time to upward of 13 different bird sounds?
When the Toti river is not in flood, a fish eagle may be sitting in a tree close to the water’s edge.
Did you know that a little way inland, there is a park with a plaque dedicated to King Shaka where he presumably sat and expressed his opinion about the Toti River’s sweet water? Did you know a mountain bike path has also been created that you can walk along under a lush, green canopy of flora?
Did you know that many companies advertise along this road – beer cans, beer bottles, cool drinks and juices bottles, chip wrappers, take-out chicken, pizza and coffee.
Oh, and DSW also advertises here. A plastic bag with their logo was quite simply left in the grass as it is torn and unusable.
Then there is Mrs Glxxxx Hxxxx’s pill containers, quite simply thrown out the window of a car, I imagine. And the worst is that some home owners or occupants simply dump their garden refuse, which also includes domestic rubbish down the embankment on the opposite side from where they live.
Did you know that one of the best nature areas around Toti is a dump site for the lazy and the irresponsible?
Cleaning up is proving to be futile.
I have no answer other than asking people to be responsible, that DSW regularly removes the refuse and maybe adds a couple of bins along the way.
