Milestone miles from RWFL athletes
Get out there, you have set yourself a goal go and get it we as Run Walk For Life will be there to support you all the way.
RUN Walk For Life (RWFL) congratulates Mandy Willemse on achieving her 500km award.
While it might seem like light work, it is startling to note that this athlete has done it over three-and-a-half months – a great achievement.
Helen Skinner achieved her 1,000km award. While this athlete may have taken longer, if you take her age (not to be advertised) into consideration, she deserves great applause.
Helen and Mandy are true examples of what can be achieved if you set yourself a goal and work towards it. They are both the club’s inspiration.
The weather has been playing up again, depriving athletes from proper training, but the Saturday morning run was well supported. These numbers are growing and not only from RWFL members but also other clubs. All fitness junkies and runners are welcome.
Members are currently training for the Sani Stagger, half Ironman as well as novices for the Comrades. While the weather does not always play along, keep on training so don those warm clothes and rain jackets.
RWFL invites the public to join them, to enjoy the health and mental benefits of training in walking or jogging in groups. It is that time of the year when all athletes need to budget for the athletics club 2014 license renewal. While ASA has increased its licence fees, RWFL will not increase its fees, but actually decrease members’ fees on the programme. They will pay only R120 to belong to the club, which includes an ASA number. The rest will pay R250, the same as this year, which also includes the ASA licence number.
Events coming up include the year-end function on Saturday, 23 November at Umbogovango Nature Reserve (AECI next to Southgate Industrial Park). Let Jan know if you will attend as numbers must be given to security at AECI.
